Tailoring Workouts to your day
This tree that fell near where I am currently living is hundreds of years old.  I stood next to it and the top of my head is just barely above it in its width.  Power lines fell on top of trapped drivers and many streets are still closed down due to power lines and trees crossing the roadways. Due to the power outages—which AEP have stated may last 5-7 days—I need to work my fitness...

Storms
Just hopping on to let you all know, my posts are going to be sporadic at best the next few days.  The storms that hit Ohio and the east coast got us pretty bad.  More than half the city is without power and a street near where I live had power lines littering the road.  They had even fallen onto of cars, trapping people inside.  I was inside during the entire thing at an art/comic convention...

New Schedule
So, after much debate, I decided, while I want to do Insanity, doing weights along with it will maximize my efforts and fat burning, so I am currently re-working my workout schedule to use Insanity every other day (four days a week) and weights the other three days.  I don’t plan to do cardio recovery except on off days, since it is rather easy for me anyhow and I won’t be doing six...

Progress
Lost two pounds this week and another inch off my waist!  I am happy with these numbers.  I often see people who are starting off their journey at a high weight seem to grasp to high for success.  The true success is in overcoming the small numbers and continuing to work hard toward your future.  I, just like many others, started off at over 300lbs and I wanted so badly to just watch the weight...

Sleeping In
I hate it when I sleep past my alarm on days I don’t have to work.  At first, it feels nice to sleep in, but afterwards you feel awful.  How do YOU combat this habit?

Breakfast
I love having rolled oats in the morning with a nice cup of green tea.  This is my vanilla almond rolled oat concoction. What I love about rolled oats is that they not only fill you up, they help prove so much energy in the morning and there are numerous ways to serve them!  You have endless possibilities. This is simply 1/2 cup of trader joe’s rolled oats with 1/2 tbsp chia seeds, 1/4...

Never Give Up Just Because You Had One Bad Day
After being away from Insanity for a month, day 2 was AWFUL. Wanted to stop before I began. Definitely not my best, had to stop a lot out of breath, but I kept going despite my mind and body screaming “NO MORE.” Happy and proud I finished the day despite hating every minute. However, not I feel amazing. Funny how that works.

Insanity Day 2, Round 2
I am excited to be restarting the program, though I admit, intimidated as well.  It has been a good four weeks since I did any workout that is at this level of intensity.  My knee is finally getting to be in much better shape now that I am not on it, bending up and down and washing floors by hand everyday.  Still have slight bruising under the knee caps, so I will be taking it a little easier on...

reedisonspeed replied to your post: Back to Insanity I did insanity and it sucks for me. Mainly because I was trying to build muscle and too much cardio kills bodybuilding progress But hopefully you’ll have better results I have been through til the beginning of phase two once already, however, I injured my knee and had to stop for a month.  Just getting back into it, but I did have that...

Back to Insanity
So…I caved. I missed Insanity (as “insane” that is to say). Surprisingly, after a month of lower impact workouts and no Insanity, my fit test numbers went down a little, but they were not as bad as I thought they would be. Switch Kicks - 109 Power Jacks - 30 (just barely) Power Knees - 112 Power Jumps (skipped to be careful with my knee) Low Jumps - 9 Suicide Jumps...

Yum, yum, yum
WHY HAVE I NOT DONE THIS SOONER!  Wow.  1 tbps of Krema natural peanut butter (just fresh peanuts in the ingredients, no artificial sugars), almond breeze’s vanilla almond milk and chocolate shakeology.  So simple too and it is seriously amazing.  Tastes like I am drinking a peanut butter cup.  I don’t have a blender right now, so I was super worried that with my shaker cup, the peanut...

Work & Run?
I was helping place fliers for my boyfriend’s business today and decided, it was a wonderful day for a run!  It was definitely interesting.  I would run from mailbox to mailbox.  Did 2.25 miles in around 30 min.  Not bad for stopping and starting!  Some of the mailboxes took a while due to being really tight fits for extra mail on the sides.  However, this is proof that even when you are...

Yummy
Rolled oats and two asian apple pears (nashi pears) for my after workout snack!  I have a great workout tonight.  My knee is still grinding, but overall, my mood is better and things seem to be going well.  Excited for what is to come.  I did turbofire’s fire 45 tonight (keeping up 100% now that I have the choreography down) and did my cardio belly dance along with some belly dance...

interconnectedmiscellany answered your question: I swear, this is helpful picture morning!  I loved… If I have to buy pre-made, hemp. It’s the BEST. Homemade almond & coconut milks are the tastiest. Never tried to make homemade almond milk, but that sounds like fun.  Know any good recipes?  Not a huge fan of coconut myself, at least not for drinks.  I love using it for curries and a...

Breakfast
Shakeology down the hatch along with some yummy garden vegetable soup and some tasty unsweetened acai berry iced tea. I have a few more vegan tropical strawberry shakeology samples to send out and now I have my box of chocolate.  So if you are not vegan and want to try a sample of chocolate shakeology, send me an ask with an address and name to ship to and I will send one off right away!  What...

gettingfitthedarcyway answered your question: Finally made an official workout schedule for… don’t forget to take an actual rest day? With nothing else but rest and maybe some yoga? XD And, yes, more often than not I plan out :] Haha - not to worry, this is just tentative and I don’t know 100% when I am going to have my rest days yet, but I plan to be pretty relaxed about this...

So…just got bored and decided to figure out how many inches I have lost since starting my weight loss journey.  Measuring only my waist, hips, chest, both biceps and both thighs I have currently lost 38.5 inches and counting!!

CLEAN Eating
When you are planning to do a very intensive workout program, I suggest cleaning up your eating habits.  Cheat days make you feel sick and lethargic and most often then not, they will take you back a step.  When I ate poorly, even if I let me food sit a few hours before pressing “play,” it STILL made me get sick.  Nothing wrong with occassionally wanting to have something tasty, but moderation is...

Outdoors
Take some time out for yourself.  Smell the fresh air, the wind blowing through your hair…take a nice long run or walk outside.  It is so much more rewarding than a treadmill.  The constant change of scenery can be invigorating and energizing.  It is nice feeling the breeze on your face and actually seeing the distance you’ve gone in a more physical sense.

Positive Energy
Being positive is a conscious CHOICE.  If you are suffering from depression or any negative feelings, you have to actively THINK positive.  This may seem easier said then done, but just as it can often be difficult to pick yourself up and do a workout on a bad day, you still have to do it.  If you don’t, it is easy to “fall off the wagon” and begin to make excuses as to why you can’t make time for...

You are all making me want to do zumba now!  Looks like fun.  I am assuming joining a class in my area would be more recommended than a video?

Binge/Cheat Days
Weight lose really depends on many factors.  How you are working out, how often, but most importantly, what you are eating, putting into your body and when.  I highly disagree with the majority who think having cheat days are important.  I think everything in moderation is alright, but having a day of splurging all in that day only helps create the bad habits and can ruin your healthy lifestyle....

Relax
Take some time for yourself and look at the beauty of the world around you.  If you are feeling down, stressed or unmotivated, taking time for yourself and for relaxation can have an amazing effect on your overall mood and health.  Allowing yourself moments of peace, serenity and calm are vital to your mental as well as physical health.  If your looking to lose weight or simply make yourself the...

Before & Afters
I cannot stress enough how helpful posting before and during pictures of yourself can be, no matter what your fitness goals are.  Posting these images not only helps us notice our own improvements, but even when it is difficult to be honest with others and with ourselves on where we are (or have been), it helps give us a reason to continue to push forward.  Do you think it was easy for me to put...
